The next film in the Superman Saga has finally been formally unveiled by writer and director James Gunn. On social media, Gunn announced that the upcoming Superman sequel would go by Man of Tomorrow and is expected to release on July 9, 2027.

The Superman Sequel That Everyone Has Anticipated

It has been no secret that a new Superman movie was on the horizon. Back in early August, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav had confirmed DC Studios' plans for a sequel. In recent weeks, Gunn hadn't exactly been shy about sharing his progress on the script either. By the sound of things, that script is finally ready for shooting, and it looks like Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor will already be making his return to the big screen.

What To Expect From Man of Tomorrow

James Gunn loves to tease, but he has never been the type to reveal more than he has to. The image he attached to his social media announcements, though, definitely seems significant this time around. A smiling Superman next to Lex Luthor in his warsuit — the implication is clear. But if there was any doubt, David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult also took to social media to share similar promotional images drawn by renowned comic book artists. As of right now, if there's anything to expect out of Man of Tomorrow, it's a Superman and Lex Luthor team-up. Well, maybe they just actually fight each other — that wouldn't be surprising.
